                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE LEGISLATURE.
 


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 21, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended
 
 2 by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to
 
 3 read as follows:
 
 4      "§21-    Bill introduction; limitations.  (a)  Unlimited
 
 5 bill introductions for a regular legislative session may occur
 
 6 during any designated prefiling period and the first three
 
 7 legislative days of the regular session.  Subsequently, each
 
 8 member may introduce as the prime sponsor, not more than ten
 
 9 bills total until the legislatively established deadline for
 
10 introducing bills.
 
11      (b)  Each house of the legislature may establish exceptions
 
12 to the requirements of subsection (a) for the leader and
 
13 chairpersons of the standing committees of the respective
 
14 houses."
 
15      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
16      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
