                     A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE
   FORTY-FOURTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:


 1      SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall
 
 2 be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are
 
 3 hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of
 
 4 Hawaii for fiscal year 2000-2001.
 
 5 1.  To be expended by the department of accounting and general
 
 6 services:
 
 7      A.   Makaha Elementary School, Makaha
 
 8           Fifteen classrooms, five offices, and meeting room;
 
 9           automated sprinkler system for the lawn; playground
 
10           equipment to replace unsafe metal equipment that was
 
11           removed; electrical upgrades so the school's computers
 
12           can be plugged in; air conditioning to accommodate
 
13           year-round schedule; and increased space for the Head
 
14           Start program.

 6      SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital
 
 7 projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the
 
 8 designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
 
 9      SECTION 3.  The appropriations made for capital improvement
 
10 projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the
 
11 fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided
 
12 that all appropriations which are unencumbered as June 30, 2002,
 
13 shall lapse as of that date.
 
14      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
