                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 431, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended
 
 2 by adding three new sections to article 10A to be appropriately
 
 3 designated and to read as follows:
 
 4      "§431:10A-    Required option for naturopathic services.
 
 5 Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, each employer
 
 6 group health policy, contract, plan, or agreement issued or
 
 7 renewed in this State on or after January 1, 2001, shall provide
 
 8 as an employer option, naturopathic services for the subscriber
 
 9 or any dependent of the subscriber who is covered by the policy.
 
10 The option shall provide that the subscriber or a naturopathic
 
11 physician licensed in this State under chapter 455, shall be
 
12 entitled to reimbursement or payment when the services performed
 
13 are within the lawful scope of the naturopathic physician's
 
14 license.
 
15      §431:10A-    Required option for acupuncture services.
 
16 Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, each employer
 
17 group health policy, contract, plan, or agreement issued or
 
18 renewed in this State on or after January 1, 2001, shall provide
 
19 as an employer option, acupuncture services for the subscriber or
 
20 any dependent of the subscriber who is covered by the policy.

 1 The option shall provide that the subscriber or an acupuncturist
 
 2 licensed in this State under chapter 436E, shall be entitled to
 
 3 reimbursement or payment when the services performed are within
 
 4 the lawful scope of the acupuncturist's license.
 
 5      §431:10A-    Required option for massage therapy services.
 
 6 Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, each employer
 
 7 group health policy, contract, plan, or agreement issued or
 
 8 renewed in this State on or after January 1, 2001, shall provide
 
 9 as an employer option, massage therapy services for the
 
10 subscriber or any dependent of the subscriber who is covered by
 
11 the policy.  The option shall provide that the subscriber or a
 
12 massage therapist licensed in this State under chapter 452, shall
 
13 be entitled to reimbursement or payment when the services
 
14 performed are within the lawful scope of the massage therapist's
 
15 license."
 
16      SECTION 2.  Chapter 432, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended
 
17 by adding three new sections to article 1, to be appropriately
 
18 designated and to read as follows:
 
19      "§432:1-    Required option for naturopathic services.

21 group hospital or medical service plan contracts, plans, or
 
22 agreements issued or renewed in this State on or after January 1,
