                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE INTEGRATED TAX INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
   ACQUISITION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TAXATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to ensure that needed
 
 2 resources appropriated the previous fiscal year are available to
 
 3 assist the department of taxation in its efforts to meet the
 
 4 obligations of the integrated tax information management systems
 
 5 performance-based contract.  This Act extends authorization to
 
 6 expend the funds previously authorized by Act 155, Session Laws
 
 7 of Hawaii 1999, to fiscal year 2001-2002.
 
 8      SECTION 2.  Act 155, Session Laws of Hawaii 1999, is amended
 
 9 by amending section 5 to read as follows:
 
10      "SECTION 5.  There is appropriated out of the integrated tax
 
11 information management systems special fund the sum of
 
12 $17,750,828[,] or so much thereof as may be necessary[,] for
 
13 fiscal year 1999-2000[,] and the sum of $7,480,428[,] or so much
 
14 thereof as may be necessary[,] for fiscal year 2000-2001[,] to
 
15 carry out the purposes of this Act.  The appropriations
 
16 authorized in this section shall not lapse at the end of the
 
17 fiscal years for which the appropriations are made; provided that
 
18 any appropriations that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2002,
 
19 shall lapse as of that date.

 1      The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of
 
 2 taxation."
 
 3      SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
 4 New statutory material is underscored.
 
 5      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on June 29, 2000.
