                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO MATCH FEDERAL FUNDS FOR THE
   ESTABLISHMENT OF MANUFACTURING EXTENSION PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general
 
 2 revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $200,000, or so much
 
 3 thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 1999-2000, for the
 
 4 establishment of manufacturing extension programs in Hawaii;
 
 5 provided that the department of business, economic development,
 
 6 and tourism shall obtain a firm commitment from the federal
 
 7 government for federal funds that match this appropriation at
 
 8 least dollar-for-dollar.
 
 9      SECTION 2.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the
 
10 department of business, economic development, and tourism for the
 
11 purposes of this Act.
 
12      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
