                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE STATE WATER CODE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to extend the time
 
 2 provided for in Act 101, Session Laws of Hawaii 1998, to submit
 
 3 the state agricultural water use and development plan.
 
 4      SECTION 2.  Act 101, Session Laws of Hawaii 1998, is amended
 
 5 by amending section 4 to read as follows:
 
 6      "SECTION 4.  The chairperson of the board of agriculture
 
 7 shall submit the state agricultural water use and development
 
 8 plan as defined in section 174C-31, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to
 
 9 the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening
 
10 of the regular session of [2000.] 2002."
 
11      SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general
 
12 revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $100,000 or so much
 
13 thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2000-2001 to develop
 
14 the state agricultural water use and development plan as defined
 
15 in section 174C-31, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
 
16      The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of
 
17 agriculture.
 
18      SECTION 4.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
19 New statutory material is underscored.
 
20      SECTION 5.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
