                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES HEALTH FUND.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 87, Hawaii Revised Statutes is amended
 
 2 by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to
 
 3 read as follows:
 
 4      "§87-    Additional requirements for employee organizations
 
 
 
 7 board of trustees shall require employee organization plans to
 
 8 comply with the following requirements:
 
 9      (1)  Employee organizations who participates in the fund's
 
10           health and group life insurance programs shall return
 
11           to the fund the approximate employer's share of any
 
12           rate credits or reimbursements from any carrier or self
 
13           insurance plan or any earning or interest derived
 
14           therefrom; and
 
15      (2)  By March 31 of each year, each participating employee-
 
16           organization shall submit a report to the board of
 
17           trustees identifying the amount and source of such
 
18           funds identified in (1).
 
19      (3)  Employee organization plan shall permit the State

 1           comptroller to examine and audit the enrollment and
 
 2           financial transactions of their benefit plans to verify
 
 3           each participating employee organization's compliance
 
 4           with this chapter."
 
 5      SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
 6 New statutory material is underscored.
 
 7      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
