SB 952     RELATING TO THE HAWAIIAN HOMES COMMISSION     WLH, JDC
        Authorizes the election of the members of the
        Hawaiian Homes Commission by Hawaiian voters.

SB 571     RELATING TO HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS TRUST         WLH, WAM
        INDIVIDUAL CLAIMS
        Extends the Hawaiian Home Lands Trust Individual
        Claims Review Panel until December 31, 2001.

SB 567     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PAYMENT       WLH, WAM
        OF DAMAGES FOR HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS TRUST
        INDIVIDUAL CLAIMS
        Appropriates funds for payments to claimants
        awarded damages by the Hawaiian Home Lands Trust
        Individual Claims Review Panel.

SB 1105    MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR         WLH, WAM
        LEGAL SERVICES FOR DEPARTMENT OF HAWAIIAN 
        HOME LANDS INDIVIDUAL CLAIMS REVIEW
        
SB 569     RELATING TO HAWAIIAN HOMES COMMISSION ACT     WLH, WAM
        Allows Department of Hawaiian Home Lands the
        authority to hire its own staff attorney.

SB 451     RELATING TO THE COMMISSION ON WATER RESOURCE  WLH, WAM
        MANAGEMENT
        Reduces the number of members of the Commission on
        Water Resource Management appointed by the Governor

 
        subject to confirmation by the Senate from 4 to 3.
        Requires one member of the commission to be a
        representative from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
        Reduces the membership of the nominating committee
        from 4 to 3 members.

SB 463     RELATING TO THE LAND USE COMMISSION           WLH, WAM
        Specifies that one of the non-county members of the
        Land Use Commission be a representative of the Office
        of Hawaiian Affairs.

SB 464     RELATING TO THE BOARD OF LAND AND NATURAL     WLH, WAM
        RESOURCES
        Specifies that 1 of the 2 at-large members of the
        Board of Land and Natural Resources by a
        representative of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

SB 461     RELATING TO HAWAIIAN FISHPONDS                     WLH
        Expands the authority of the chair of the Office of
        Hawaiian Affairs to lease government-owned Hawaiian
        fishponds.

SB 1146    RELATING TO THE HAWAIIAN HOMES COMMISSION     WLH, WAM
        ACT, 1920, AS AMENDED
        Permits Hawaiian Homes lessees to transfer interests
        with the approval of the Department, to qualify
        relatives of at least 1/4 Hawaiian:  husband, wife,
        children, or grandchildren.

SB 556     RELATING TO THE PRIMARY AND GENERAL           WLH, JDC
        ELECTIONS OF THE OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS
        Provides for the election of the Office of Hawaiian
        Affairs through a system of primary and general
        elections while still maintaining the nonpartisan
        character of the office.

SB 568     RELATING TO HISTORIC PRESERVATION             WLH, WAM
        Establishes a burial site program within DLNR to
        assist island burial councils with their mandated
        responsibilities.  Clarifies and strengthens various
        laws relating to the preservation of native Hawaiian
        burial sites and artifacts.



  DECISION MAKING WILL BE DEFERRED UNTIL FRIDAY, FEB. 5, 1999.

When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being
submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required
number of copies needed for submittal.
