S.B. 54  RELATING TO SEXUAL OFFENDERS                JDC/WAM
        Provides for the imposition of extended terms of
        imprisonment for persistent and predatory sexual
        offenders. (Buen)

S.B. 582 RELATING TO SEXUAL OFFENDERS                JDC/WAM
        Establishes sex offender free zones around schools,
        playgrounds, and childcare centers. (Chumbley,
        Matsunaga)

S.B. 583 RELATING TO SEXUAL OFFENDERS                JDC/WAM
        Requires life imprisonment without possibility of
        parole for repeat felon sexual offender. (Matsunaga,
        Chumbley)

S.B. 584 RELATING TO HABITUAL VIOLENT OFFENDERS      JDC/WAM
        Requires mandatory life imprisonment, without
        possibility of parole or other release, for habitual
        violent offenders. Defines terms. (Matsunaga,
        Chumbley)

S.B. 585 RELATING TO SEXUAL OFFENDERS                JDC/WAM
        Makes a third offense of sexual assault in the 4th
        degree a class C felony and requires mandatory sex
        offender treatment and imposition of a mandatory
        minimum prison sentence. (Matsunaga, Chumbley)

S.B. 587 RELATING TO SEXUAL OFFENDERS                JDC/WAM
        Requires lifetime parole for second time felony sexual
        offenders. (Matsunaga, Chumbley)

S.B. 1469  RELATING TO THE ADJUDICATION OF TRAFFIC INFRACTIONSJDC
        /WAM
        Repeals Chapter 291D, HRS, relating to the
        adjudication of traffic infractions. (Mizuguchi B.R.)

(The Committee on Judiciary will be holding decision making on
the above measure on March 5, 1999 at 9:15 a.m. in conference

S.B. 1345  RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION IN THE 
S.D. 1   JUDICIARY                              JDC/CPN, WAM
        Provides salary increases for judges.  Changes
        retirement provisions for future judges. (Mizuguchi
        B.R.)

S.B. 887 RELATING TO JUDGES OF THE CIRCUIT COURT    JDC, WAM
        Increases the number of circuit court judges in the
        fifth circuit by one.  (Mizuguchi B.R.)

S.B. 576 RELATING TO AGRICULTURE                    ECD, WAM
S.D. 1   Extends composition of agribusiness development
        corporation (ADC) board by 5 years; appropriates
        unspecified sums to board for 4 ADC positions and for
        the Hamakua district agricultural subdivision; directs
        ADC to provide for the planning, design, and
        construction of an agricultural subdivision in the
        Hamakua district; requires annual reports to the
        legislature.  (Inouye)

S.B. 202 AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATIONGOH, WAM
        BONDS AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE RENTAL
        HOUSING TRUST FUND
        Authorizes $20 million in G.O. Bonds and appropriates
        it to the Rental Housing Trust Fund.  Permits uses of
        funds for, planning, design, costs of options,
        agreements of sale, and other housing development
        services or activities.  (Tam)

S.B. 959 RELATING TO SPECIAL FACILITY REVENUE BONDS FORTIA, WAM
S.D. 1   AIRPORTS
        Redefines "special facility" for special facility
        revenue bonds and leases for airports to include cargo
        facilities and operations.  (Taniguchi)

S.B. 516 RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTSLRE/WLH,
        WAM
S.D. 1   Requires the preparation of an environmental
        assessment for actions which propose any use of land
        when the use is subject to discretionary approval by a
        state or county agency except those land uses that
        have minimal or no significant effect.  (Nakata,
        Levin, Taniguchi)

S.B. 1023  RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION       LRE, WAM
        Allows the Department of Health to hire a professional
        ecologist or biologist capable of performing

 
        ecological risk assessments and natural resource
        damage assessments.  (Mizuguchi B.R.)

S.B. 567 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PAYMENT OF  WLH, WAM
