S.R. 3   SUPPORTING APPROVAL OF THE FORD ISLAND      TIA,WAM
        DEVELOPMENT PROJECT BY THE U.S. CONGRESS.

S.B. 65  RELATING TO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT           TIA,LRE
        Provides that no person who is required to register
        with the Selective Service System shall be eligible
        for state of county employment without appropriate
        verification.  (KAWAMOTO, et al)

S.B. 17  RELATING TO TAXATION                        TIA,WAM
        Authorizes the reimbursement of general excise tax
        (GET) amounts to counties for GET passed on to the
        counties.  (INOUYE, et al)

S.B. 156 RELATING TO COUNTIES                        TIA,WAM
        Amends the definition of "project costs" in the tax
        increment financing law to expand the services that
        may be provided through tax increment financing.

S.B. 123 RELATING TO COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS  TIA,WAM
        Requires counties to recognize the diminished market
        value of properties where a conservation easement has
        been granted and is eligible as a charitable deduction
        for qualified conservation contributions under section
        170 (h), Internal Revenue Code.  (CHUMBLEY, et al)


 


 
S.B. 132 RELATING TO COUNTY BUILDING PERMITS         TIA,CPN
        Requires dual building permits as to owner-building
        and contractor to cover excluded items under a
        construction contract if the owner-builder performs
        work on excluded items; same building permit as to
        contractor to cover excluded items if the same
        contractor performs work.  (CHUN OAKLAND, et al)

S.B. 31  RELATING TO ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION LEVELS    TIA,JDC
        Lowers the legal alcohol concentration level for
        driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor
        related offenses from .08 to .04.  (LEVIN, et al)

S.B. 58  RELATING TO DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF   TIA,JDC
        INTOXICATING LIQUOR
        Requires forfeiture of motor vehicles driven at the
        time or a 3rd DUI offense of habitually driving under
        the influence of intoxicating liquor.  (BUEN, et al)

S.B. 121   RELATING TO HIGHWAY SAFETY                      TIA
        Requires director of transportation, with assistance
        of examiner or drivers, to design and implement a
        system to determine whether an applicant has executed
        a medical treatment declaration and if so, to
        designate this fact accordingly directly on the
        applicant's license.  (CHUMBLEY, et al)

S.B. 162 RELATING TO CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY          TIA,JDC
        Requires child under four years old instead of under
        three years old to be properly restrained in child
        passenger seat.  (KAWAMOTO, et al)

S.B. 165 RELATING TO SCHOOL BUSES                    TIA,WAM
        Requires public and private elementary school children
        to wear seat belts on school buses.  Requires all
        state contracted school buses to be fitted with seat
        belts after 1/1/99.  Appropriates funds.

S.B. 161 RELATING TO PICKUP TRUCKS                   TIA,JDC
        Prohibits passengers eighteen years of age and under
        (pursuant to a graduated schedule) from riding in the
        back of a pickup truck.  (KAWAMOTO, et al)

S.B. 18  RELATING TO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS         TIA,JDC
        Prohibits use of social security numbers for public
        identification purposes.  (SLOM, et al)

S.B. 155 RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                      TIA

 
        Requires all motor vehicle licenses issued after
        December 31, 1999 to specifically exclude any
        reference to the licensee's social security number.  
        A new system of assigning unique identification
        numbers to motor vehicle licenses will be implemented.

S.B. 27  RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION          TIA
        Requires that an owner of a vehicle in storage present
        a certificate of inspection that is issued after the
        recording of storage, if the certificate of inspection
        expired during the period of storage.  (LEVIN, et al)

S.B. 114 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO STUDY THE            TIA
        FEASIBILITY OF CREATING A LOOKOUT AT HO'OKIPA 
        ON THE HANA HIGHWAY
        Appropriates $300,000 to study the feasiblity of
        creating a lookout at Ho'okipa on the Hana highway,
        Maui.  (CHUMBLEY, et al)

hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at

least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.
