S.B. 189   RELATING TO NEW MOTHERS BREASTFEEDING         LRE, JDC
        PROMOTION AND PROTECTION ACT
        Enacts the new mothers breastfeeding promotion and
        protection act.

S.B. 45    RELATING TO VACANCIES                         LRE, WAM
        Requires transfer of all vacancies as of 6/30/99 to
        pools where 1/2 are to be abolished and funds lapse to
        general fund: remaining positions to be reallocated by
        governor or chief justice with funds to be used for
        reallocated positions.  Prohibits creation of new
        exempt positions.  Applies to vacancies after 6/30/99.

S.B. 63    RELATING TO TAXATION                          LRE, WAM
        Tax credits for employers hiring recently released
        persons who have been incarcerated for conviction of
        felonies.

S.B. 1150  RELATING TO SAFETY                            LRE, WAM
        Ensures the adequacy of inspections for public safety
        purposes on Oahu and the Neighbor islands.

S.B. 820   RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES              LRE, JDC
        Prohibits wage discrimination due to sex, race, and
        national origin.  Establishes exemptions.  Defines
        terms.  Establishes employer recordkeeping
        requirements.  Grants rule making authority to the
        director of labor and industrial relations.


 
S.B. 819   RELATING TO MINIMUM WAGES                     LRE, WAM
        Make adjustments in the minimum hourly wage based on

S.B. 1239  RELATING TO MINIMUM WAGES                    LRE, WAM 
        Increases the state minimum wage to $6.50 per hour
        beginning on September 1, 1999, and provides for
        certain cost-of-living adjustments annually
        thereafter.

        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies (single sided,
stapled, without holes) of their testimony to the vice-chair's
office, Room 217, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to
the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659
(toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the
hearing.  When faxing, please indicate the date and time of the
hearing, the required number of copies needed for submittal, and
that the testimony be delivered to Room 217.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the chair's committee clerk 24
hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
