S.B. 749   RELATING TO COMPENSATION FOR PUBLIC OFFICERS  LRE, WAM
        AND EMPLOYEES
        Provides pay ranges for certain public officers and
        employees.

S.B. 1470  RELATING TO STATE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES      LRE, WAM
        EXCLUDED FROM COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND 
        MAKING APPROPRIATIONS AND OTHER ADJUSTMENTS
        Appropriates funds to track legislative staff salaries
        to bargaining units 3, 4 , and 13 collective
        bargaining cost adjustments.

S.B. 1148  RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT SECURITY APPEALS       LRE, JDC
        Allows unemployment security appeals hearings to be
        conducted by telephone.

S.B. 1574  RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT                        LRE, WAM
        Requires successor employers to retain incumbent
        employees upon the divestiture, sale, or acquisition
        of a business.

S.B. 821   RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION         LRE, JDC
        Makes it an unlawful discriminatory practice for an
        employer to condition employment or hiring upon the
        employee's relinquishment of the right to initiate or
        participate in an investigation or proceeding under
        chapter 368, HRS, or any other right under chapters
        368 or 378, HRS. 


 
S.B. 1332  RELATING TO COORDINATED CARE ORGANIZATIONS    LRE, CPN
        Allows an employer of less than fifty employees to
        offer one or more registered coordinated care

S.B. 1152  RELATING TO THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND       LRE, WAM
        HEALTH TRAINING AND ASSISTANCE FUND
        Continues the fund which has been instrumental in the
        area of workplace accident prevention.  Clarifies that
        the fund may be used to certify safety and health
        professionals. 

S.B. 1563  MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR ADDITIONAL       LRE, WAM 
        FULL-TIME VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION 
        SPECIALIST POSITIONS
        Appropriates funds for additional full-time vocational
        rehabilitation specialists within the department of
        labor and industrial relations.

S.B. 1308  RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN           LRE, WAM
        INCUMBENT WORKER JOB TRAINING PROGRAM FOR 
        GROWTH INDUSTRIES
        Encourages the creation of training programs to
        improve the skills of existing workers for jobs in new
        and emerging industries.

S.B. 1147  RELATING TO THE HAWAII WORKFORCE COUNCIL      LRE, WAM
        Adds federal requirments for a workforce investment
        board to the Workforce Development Council statutory
        requirements.


        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.


Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies (single sided,
stapled, without holes) of their testimony to the vice-chair's
office, Room 217, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to
the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659
(toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the
hearing.  When faxing, please indicate the date and time of the
hearing, the required number of copies needed for submittal, and
that the testimony be submitted to the Labor and Environment
Committee vice-chair's office, Room 217.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the chair's committee clerk 24
hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
