  THE FOLLOWING BILLS WERE HEARD ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1999

TIA/LRE

S.B. 531   RELATING TO ROADSIDE HERBICIDE USE        TIA/LRE, WAM
        Requires state and county agencies responsible for
        roadside vegetation maintenance to develop and
        implement an integrated vegetation management strategy
        to minimize the use of herbicide.

LRE/TIA

S.B. 1494  MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE MICONIA   LRE/TIA, WAM
        ERADICATION PROGRAM IN THE COUNTY OF 
        HAWAII STATE SERVICE
        Appropriates funds to match federal funds to continue
        the miconia eradication program in Hawaii county.


 
S.B. 33    RELATING TO CONSERVATION LICENSE PLATES   LRE/TIA, WAM
        Creates a long-term supplemental funding source from
        the voluntary sale of conservation license plates.
        Stimulates other voluntary contributions for
        endangered species recovery and youth conservation
        programs.

S.B. 118   RELATING TO HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS          LRE/TIA, WAM 
        SUBSTANCE RECYCLING
        Prohibits commercial dumping, discharging, or disposal
        of household hazardous waste on or in any land,,
        water, or mixed municipal solid waste.  Requires a
        warning label about proper disposal and whether the
        product is to be recycled or disposed of.

S.B. 117   RELATING TO HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE     LRE/TIA, WAM
        Requires the DOH to assist the counties in the
        development of plans for the operation of household
        hazardous waste collection, recycling, and disposal
        programs.  Appropriates fund to the DOH to pay the
        State's share of the cost of mandated county programs.

LRE ONLY

S.B 124    MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE COLLECTION    LRE, WAM
        AND DISPOSAL OF HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
        Appropriates funds to the DOH for a statewide
        household hazardous waste collections and disposal
        project.

      NO TESTIMONY WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THESE BILLS.
