HB 1214       RELATING TO COMMERCIAL DRIVER           TRN,JHA,FIN
           LICENSING
           Provides the authority for licensing a driver with
           a valid and qualified commercial driver's license
           issued by any Canadian province without requiring
           the driver to pass a knowledge or skills test.

HB 1457       RELATING TO THE TRAFFIC CODE            TRN,JHA,FIN
           Makes spilling load violations an offense.

HB 1690       RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER            JHA,FIN
           LICENSING
           Exempts foreign nationals, foreign students, and
           diplomatic and consular officers from the foreign
           driver's license surrender and invalidation
           requirements of section 286-102(c).  Establishes
           procedure for temporary surrender of foreign
           driver's licenses.

 
 
 
 
 
 
HB 1179       RELATING TO COMMERCIAL MARINE           OMR,JHA,FIN
           LICENSES
           Clarifies statutory provisions relating to the
           issuance of commercial marine licenses.  Changes
           requirement for commercial fish catches reports.

HB 1176       RELATING TO BOATING PENALTIES           OMR,JHA,FIN
           Establishes administrative fines for violations of
           boating laws and rules.  Authorizes the collection
           of fines, damages, and fees and costs.

HB 1706 HD1   RELATING TO FISHERIES                   OMR,JHA,FIN
           Imposes a bag limit of one shark per day, per
           person.  Prohibits the possession, purchase, sale,
           or trade of shark fins.

HB 1142 HD1   RELATING TO ENVIRONMENT                 EEP,JHA,FIN
           Proposes the regulation of private cesspool,
           wastewater, and sludge pumping and hauling
           operations by the director of health.

HB 532 HD1    RELATING TO GENDER EQUITY IN SPORTS     EDN,JHA,FIN
           Prohibits persons, on the basis of their sex, from
           being discriminated against in any interscholastic,
           club, or intramural athletics offered by a public
           school.  Prohibits public schools from providing
           athletics separately on the basis of sex.

HB 590        RELATING TO VIOLENCE                    HSH,JHA,FIN
           Establishes a protocol for the development and
           implementation of death review teams to review any
           adult domestic violence and sexual assault-related
           deaths.

HB 876        RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT               HSH,JHA,FIN
           ENFORCEMENT
           Allows a parent who does not contest his or her
           child support obligations and who is in good
           standing with the parent's payments to opt out of
           the child support enforcement agency payment
           system.

HB 280        RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT   HSH,JHA,FIN
           Requires interest collected by the Child Support
           Enforcement Agency on child support payments to be
           used to pay penalties to custodial parents for late
           payments and to make a certain percentage of the
           funds available to improve client services.

 
 
 
 
 
HB 1389       PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE       EDN,JHA,FIN
           VII, SECTION 12, AND ARTICLE X, SECTION I, OF THE
           HAWAII CONSTITUTION, TO AUTHORIZE THE ISSUANCE OF
           SPECIAL PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS TO PRIVATE PRIMARY OR
           SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
           Proposes a constitutional amendment to allow the
           issuance of special purpose revenue bonds for
           private primary or secondary educational
           institutions to build or repair facilities.
