SB1345     RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION       JDC/CPN, WAM
        IN THE JUDICIARY
        Provides salary increases for judicial and executive
        offices in the judiciary. Changes method of
        determining future increases.  Changes retirement
        provisions for future judges.

SB 1544    RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT     CPN/JDC, WAM
        SYSTEM
        Provides Deputy Sheriffs with the Same Retirement
        Benefits as Police Officers and Firefighters.

JDC ONLY
SB 1634    RELATING TO THE SELECTION AND COMPENSATION    JDC, WAM
        OF JUDGES
        Requires Judicial Selection Commission to establish
        and report to the Legislature clear criteria for the
        selection of judges.  Also requires Commission to
        establish and report on a proposal to establish a
        merit pay system for judges.

SB 894     RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY                     JDC, WAM
        Judiciary Appropriations Act of 1999.

 
SB 897     RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY                     JDC, WAM
        Appropriates funds for the Ho'okele Court Navigation
        pilot program at the judiciary.

SB 887     RELATING TO JUDGES FOR THE CIRCUIT COURT      JDC, WAM
        Increases the number of circuit court judges in the
        fifth circuit by one.

SB 888     RELATING TO THE TRAFFIC CODE                  JDC, WAM
        Increases the amount of a penal summons to a maximum
        of $50.

SB 889     RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY                     JDC, WAM
        Permits the court to assess a sum not to exceed $50
        when issuing a bench warrant.

SB 900     RELATING TO FEES                              JDC, WAM
        Removes fee for application for appointment of special
        administrator by court order; informal probate or
        appointment proceeding under chapter 560; and
        application under chapter 560 for formal testacy
        proceedings or for supervised administration.  Adds
        $100 fee for domiciliary foreign personal
        representative.

SB 901     RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY COMPUTER SYSTEM     JDC, WAM
        SPECIAL FUND
        Repeals sunset of Act 203, Session Laws of Hawaii
        1996, which includes creation of judiciary computer
        system special fund.  Also repeals reenactment of
        section 287-3(a), Hawaii Revised Statutes, in the form
        in which it read on 6/16/96.

SB 902     RELATING TO RECORDS MANAGEMENT SERVICES       JDC, WAM
        Creates a records management fee surcharge on civil
        cases.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 40 copies of their
testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at
586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at
least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.
