S.B. 131   RELATING TO LONG-TERM CARE  HSH/HLT, CPC/LAB, FIN
  SD 3   Enacts Long Term Care Insurance Model Act and model 
           regulations; appropriates funds for a long-term care
           insurance actuary; appropriates funds for a long-term
           care volunteer ombudsman program; and appropriates
           funds for a long-term care managed care waiver.

S.B. 1501   RELATING TO EDUCATION       HSH/HLT,EDN/LAB, FIN
  SD 3   Defines new century schools with alternate educational
           programs.  Creates a process whereby existing public
           schools and new schools may be established as new
           century schools.  States that current student-centered
           schools are to be designated as new century schools.
           Repeals sections in 302A, HRS, which deal with
           student-centered schools.  Adds an appropriation for
           an early childhood development and education center. 




 


 
S.B. 176   RELATING TO CHILDREN                 HSH, JHA
           Toughens Hawaii's criminal laws for perpetrators of
           child abuse.

S.B. 599   RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE        HSH, JHA
  SD 1   Amends definition of family or household member to
           include persons with a dating history.

S.B. 823   RELATING TO SENTENCING               HSH, JHA
  SD 1   Requires courts, in imposing a sentence, to consider
           the fact that the crime was committed in the presence
           of a minor as an aggravating factor of the crime

S.B. 921   RELATING TO DISTRICT COURT           HSH, JHA
           Eliminates requirement that multiple offenses be
           charged "through complaint or indictment" with respect
           to district court's concurrent jurisdiction of abuse
           or family member offenses, when multiple offenses are
           involved, of which at least one is within the juris-
           diction of the district court.

S.B. 1052   RELATING TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES HSH, FIN
  SD 2   Allows the Director of Human Services to appoint
           members of the child protective services reform
           committee; allows DHS to share information with
           neighborhood places.

S.B. 1057   RELATING TO THE STATE ADVISORY       HSH, FIN
           COUNCIL ON REHABILITATION
           Revises the composition of the Rehabilitation Council
           to conform with federal mandates.

S.B. 513   RELATING TO FAMILY CHILD CARE        HSH, CPC/JHA
  SD 2    Includes condominiums, apartments and townhouses as 
           types of residences eligible to be used as child care
           homes; clarifies duties and rights between child care
           home and association of apartment owners.
