H.B. 1074  Relating to Regulation of Osteopathy   HLT, CPC, FIN
        
        Terminates the Board of Osteopathic Examiners and
assigns its duties to the Board of Medical Examiners, adding to
the medical board a new member who is an osteopathic physician.

H.B. 847 Relating to Mental Health Services    HLT, EDN, FIN
        for Felix Class Children

        Requires DOH, by 8/31/99, to develop service
definitions for Felix class children and a fee schedule and
billing codes comparable to Medicaid and Quest. (Stegmaier)

H.B. 1433  Relating to Physician Assistants      HLT, CPC, FIN
        
        Grants licenses to physician assistants who are

        Grants licenses to physician assistants who are

H.B. 885 Relating to Hawaii Good Samaritan Law      HLT, JHA

        Requires persons to assist others who are exposed to
or have suffered grave physical harm.  Makes violation a petty
misdemeanor. (Schatz)

H.B. 1138  Relating to Epidemiological                HLT, CPC
        Investigations

        Requires health care providers and medical facilities
to provide limited diagnostic, treatment, and contact information
for use in epidemiological disease and injury investigations upon
request by an authorized representative of the Director of Health

H.B. 478 Relating to Controlled Substances     HLT, CPC, FIN
        
        Transfers the state advisory commission on drug abuse
and controlled substances from the DOH to the Lieutenant
Governor, and makes the commission temporary.  Transfers the
duties of DOH with respect to substance abuse policymaking to the
commission.  Changes membership of the commission. (Garcia)

        Parent Commission on Drug Education
        and Prevention

        Creates a parent commission on drug education and
prevention. (Garcia)

H.B. 661 Relating to Enhanced Wireless Emergency  HLT, CPC, FIN
        911 Services
        
        Establishes enhanced 911 service for mobile phones.

H.B. 894 Relating to Health Insurance          HLT, CPC, FIN
        Reimbursements

        Requires health insurance coverages to equitably

H.B. 320 Relating to Health Insurance               HLT, CPC

        Makes health insurance coverage for mental illness no
less extensive than that for other medical illnesses. (Santiago)

H.B. 548 Relating to Professional Mental Health HLT, CPC, FIN
        Counselors and Professional 
        Rehabilitation Counselors

        Enacts licensing laws for professional mental health
counselors and professional rehabilitation counselors. (Arakaki)

H.B. 330 Relating to Patient Safety and the Right HLT, CPC, FIN
        to Nursing Care

        Establishes commission to assist insurance
commissioner to adopt rules to ensure patients' rights to nursing
care. (Santiago)

H.B. 743 Relating to Advanced Practice         HLT, CPC, FIN
        Registered Nurses

        Includes advanced practice registered nurses as
providers under workers' compensation, no-fault, and pre-paid
healthcare plans. (Lee)

H.B. 329 Relating to a Pilot, Two-Year Health       HLT, FIN
        Care Provider Hotline

        Appropriates funds for a 2 year pilot health care
report hotline for health care providers to confidentially report
dangerous patient situations to the DOH. (Santiago)

H.B. 339 Relating to Prescriptive Authority for     HLT, FIN
        Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

        Grants advanced practice registered nurses the
authority to prescribe controlled substances, schedule II-V.
Eliminates the formulary requirement from which advanced practice
registered nurses prescribe. (Takamine)

H.B. 1387  Relating to Nurses                         HLT, CPC
        
        Allows advanced practice registered nurses to practice
psychotherapy. (Okamura)
