JOINT HEARING:
SB 538 SD2   RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII     HED/LAB,FIN
          Provides complete autonomy to the University of
          Hawaii, by making required to ascertain its status
          comparable to that of the judiciary.  Makes all
          employees subject to the university's personnel
          system, and removes all university employees from
          civil service.  Eliminates director of finance and
          governor from the university budgetary process. 

 
 
 
 
 
HED HEARING:
SB 1181 SD2  RELATING TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR THE UNIVERSITY
          OF HAWAII                                    HED,FIN
          Allows the department of the attorney general to
          provide legal representation to the University of
          Hawaii upon the request of the board of regents. 

SB 1299 SD2  RELATING TO PROGRAM EXECUTION                HED,FIN
          Streamlines the University of Hawaii operations by
          removing a requirement to report each position or
          fund transfer in quarterly reports to the governor
          and annual reports to the legislature. 

SB 456 SD2   RELATING TO TUITION WAIVERS              HED,JHA,FIN
          Appropriates funds to the office of Hawaiian affairs
          to offset the cost of waiving tuition for Hawaiian
          students in the University of Hawaii system.  States
          that funds used for this purpose count as credit
          against the State's liability for ceded land
          revenue.
