SB 1011 HD1        RELATING TO THE STATE FOUNDATION ON CULTURE AND THE ARTS.
HSCR 1226          (CAR,FIN)
                Amends the law relating to the SFCA by clarifying the roles of the
                commission, executive director, and foundation staff.  Specifies
                that agencies receiving capital improvement appropriations are
                responsible for calculating the 1% due to the works of art special
                fund.

HSCR 1296          Deletes obsolete and unnecessary language; clarifies reporting
                requirements for commercial marine licensees.


Heard on Wednesday, April 7, Agenda #1

SB 1177 SD1 HD1    RELATING TO THE GENERAL EXCISE TAX. (EDB,FIN)
HSCR 1426          Provides that sales to a licensed retail merchant, jobber, or
                other licensed seller of bulk condiments or prepackaged single-
                serving packets of condiments that are provided to customers are
                subject to the general excise tax at the wholesale rate of 1/2
                percent.  Clarifies that sales to a licensed retail merchant,
                jobber, or other licensed seller of tangible personal property
                that will be incorporated or processed by the licensed seller into
                a finished or saleable product during the course of preparation
                for market and will be sold and not otherwise used by the licensed
                retail merchant, jobber, or licensed seller at retail is subject
                to the general excise tax at the wholesale rate.  Clarifies that
                the 1/2 percent intermediary services GET rate is applicable to
                persons providing professional services, not otherwise
                specifically taxed, under the general excise tax.

SB 1518            RELATING TO GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS. (FIN)
SSCR 740           PROPOSED HD1:  Deletes the contents and inserts language to close
                the Hawaii State Hospital.  Authorizes the Director of Health to
                privatize the Hospital's current functions.
