SB 131 SD3 HD2     RELATING TO LONG-TERM CARE.
HSCR 1433          Establish mechanism for studing and evaluating significant issues
                relating to long-term care. (HSH/HLT,CPC/LAB,FIN)


SB 194 SD2 HD1     RELATING TO INCOME TAXATION.
HSCR 1367          Establishes a State income tax credit equal to 50 per cent of
                premium costs paid, up to a maximum of $1,000 per taxable year,
                during the taxable year for a qualified long-term care insurance
                contract as defined in section 7702B of the Internal Revenue Code.

SB 570 SD1 HD1     RELATING TO THE WAIANAE COAST COMMUNITY BENCHMARKING PILOT PROJECT
HSCR 1392          AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT.
                Appropriates funds for the Waianae coast community benchmarking
                pilot project and the Hawaii Community Services Council for
                technical support for FY 1999-2000.  Extends the repeal date of
                the project 3 years to June 30, 2003. (HSH,FIN)


SB 994 SD2 HD2     RELATING TO DEPENDENT ADULT AND ELDER ABUSE.
HSCR 1300          Establishes an elder abuse commission to review the dependent
                adult protection law and to report to legislature. (HSH,JHA,FIN)


SB 1048 SD2 HD1    RELATING TO FOSTER BOARDING HOMES.
HSCR 1350          Changes the need for annual criminal history checks for foster
                boarding homes after the first two years, so that the subsequent
                checks may be annual or biennial, in conjunction with the
                certification schedule of the home.  Allows foster boarding homes
                to care for more than five children to accommodate sibling groups.

SB 1049 SD2 HD1    RELATING TO FOSTER BOARD ALLOWANCES FOR STUDENTS.
HSCR 1228          Allows foster board payments for eligible foster children
                attending an accredited institution of higher learning on a part-
                time basis for the first academic year. (HSH,FIN)


SB 1050 SD2 HD1    RELATING TO THE CHILD PROTECTIVE ACT.
HSCR 1327          Defines "abandoned infant" and clarifies court procedures under
                the Child Protection Act. (HSH,JHA,FIN)

SB 1051 SD2        RELATING TO DISCLOSURE OF DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES' RECORDS.
HSCR 1209          Allows DHS to make disclosure of its records in accordance with
                its rules on confidentiality as required by federal law. (HSH,FIN)


SB 1052 SD1 HD1    RELATING TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES.
HSCR 1229          Among other things, amends Child Protective Act to further protect
                children and youth from abuse and neglect. (HSH,FIN)


SB 1053            RELATING TO PERSONAL CARE SERVICES PAYMENTS.
HSCR 1227          Repeal section 346-64, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), which is
                unnecessary as personal care services are now provided through the
                Medicaid Home and Community-Based Waiver Programs, under chapter
                346D, HRS.


SB 1055 SD1 HD1    RELATING TO UNCLAIMED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BENEFITS.
HSCR 1255          Expands the law allowing for the reversion to the State of
                unclaimed benefits in a electronic benefit transfer account.

SB 1057            RELATING TO THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL ON REHABILITATION.
HSCR 1210          Restructures the Rehabilitation Council to conform to federal
                mandates. (HSH,FIN)


SB 1058 SD2 HD1    RELATING TO RECOVERY OF MEDICAL PAYMENTS.
HSCR 1299          Clarifies and standardizes provisions relating to the recovery of
                medical assistance payments by DHS in third-party liability
                situations. (HSH,JHA,FIN)


SB 1070 SD2 HD1    RELATING TO THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF
HSCR 1145          HAWAII.
                Amends "qualified resident"; and definition of "housing owner" to
                include "very low" income; amends definition of "qualified tenant"
                to conform to fair housing requirements; lowers the income limits
                for participation in the state rent supplemental program;
                increases tenants annual payment from 1/5 to 30% of tenant's
                income over a two year period. (HSH,FIN)


SB 1076 HD1        RELATING TO INSURANCE PREMIUM TAXES.
HSCR 1349          Allows insurance companies to utilize the low-income housing tax
                credit to offset insurance premium taxes. (HSH,CPC,FIN)
