HB 1085       MAKING EMERGENCY APPROPRIATIONS FOR EDUCATION.
HSCR 554      Provides an additional 283 permanent positions and $11,100,000 of
           operating funds to the Department of Education for fiscal year 1998-
           1999. (EDN/HLT,FIN)

HB 1038       MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING COST ITEMS.
HSCR 187      Provides fund authorizations and appropriations for collective
           bargaining cost items for Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13 and their
           excluded counterparts, including the cost of salary adjustments,
           negotiated between the State and the bargaining unit representatives.
           The settlements cover the fiscal biennium 1997-99 in case of Units 2,
           3, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 13; fiscal bienniums 1995-97 and 1997-99 in the case
           of Units 1 and 10. (LAB,FIN)

HB 1060 HD2   RELATING TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES HEALTH FUND.
HSCR 631      Limit state and county employer contributions for health benefits of
           employees hired after June 30, 2000. (LAB,FIN)

HB 20 HD1     RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY.
HSCR 521      Increases judicial salaries.  Eliminates early retirement provision for
           judges, including provision allowing judges to retire whenever the
           allowance reaches 75 per cent of the member's average final
           compensation.  Protects accrued benefits of current and former judges.

HB 1096 HD1   RELATING TO THE REPEAL OF BUSINESS REGULATION.
HSCR 704      Repeals regulation of electrologists, hearing aid dealers and fitters,
           and real estate collection servicing agencies.  Requires auditor to
           conduct sunset studies of other professions and vocations.  Requires
           legislative reference bureau to study dental licensing examinations.
           Requires auditor to conduct an audit of the dental provider
           reimbursement practices of insurers and related entities.  Makes
           conforming amendments. (CPC,FIN)

HB 505        RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
 
HSCR 504      Authorizes the governor to designate up to 8 renaissance zones in the
           State.  Establishes the renaissance review board.  Exempts persons
           located and operating within renaissance zones from up to 100% of the
           person's income and general excise taxes.  Requires DBEDT to submit
           annual report on the economic effects. (EDB,FIN)

HB 1620       RELATING TO HEALTH CARE COMMUNITIES.
HSCR 613      Authorizes the housing and community development corporation of Hawaii
           to work in partnership with private sector entities to develop health
           care communities in the State.  Establishes a health care community
           revolving fund to make loans to businesses for the construction of the
           health care community. (EDB,FIN)

HB 287        MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PEER EDUCATION PROGRAM.
HSCR 688      Appropriates funds to maintain and expand the services provided by the
           department of health's peer education program. (HLT,EDN,FIN)

HB 156 HD1    RELATING TO CORRECTIONS.
HSCR 120      Authorizes the governor to proceed with the development of privately
           developed in-state correctional facilities or an in-state correctional
           facility using public and/or private funds, to reduce prison
           overcrowding, subject to the need for a certificate of participation if
           private funds are used. (PSM,FIN)

HB 1298       RELATING TO BURIALS.
HSCR 650      Makes an appropriation for FY 1999-2000 and FY 2000-2001 to provide
           financial assistance for the proper burial of Filipino veterans of
           World War II. (PSM,FIN)

HB 89 HD1     RELATING TO THE OKINAWAN CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION COMMISSION.
HSCR 160      Funds the Okinawan Centennial Celebration Commission. (CAR,FIN)

HB 634 HD1    ESTABLISHING A COMMISSION TO CELEBRATE THE ONE-HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF
HSCR 35       THE ARRIVAL OF THE PUERTO RICANS TO HAWAII.
           Establishes a commission to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the
           arrival of Puerto Ricans to Hawaii. (CAR,FIN)
