HB 207     RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT          EEP/WLU,FIN 
        STATEMENTS
        Requires the preparation of an environmental
        assessment for actions which propose any use of land
        when the use is subject to discretionary approval by a
        state or county agency.

EEP ONLY:
HB 208     RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL    EEP,WLU,FIN
        QUALITY CONTROL
        Requires publication of environmentally related
        permitapplications in the OEQC bulletin.

HB 942     RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT               EEP,FIN
        STATEMENTS
        Allows extension of the public comment period for
        environmental assessment and impact statements.

 
HB 1142    RELATING TO ENVIRONMENT                    EEP,JHA,FIN
        Amends Chapter 340B, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to 
        require mandatory certification of private cesspool
        pumping firms and operating personnel in wastewater
        treatment plants.

HB 798     RELATING TO NOISE                          EEP,HLT,JHA
        Clarifies jurisdiction regarding noise control.

HB 1607    RELATING TO NOISE                              EEP,JHA
        Requires the DOH to establish maximum decibel levels
        for specified types of noise.  Authorizes citations
        and fines up to $100 per day for violations of the
        noise levels.

HB 1190    RELATING TO THE HAWAII TOURISM            EEP,TSM,FIN 
        AUTHORITY
        Grants the Hawaii Tourism Authority the power to fund
        and support, through grants and other means,
        activities which promote responsible management of
        Hawaii's natural resources to include but not limited
        to educational programs, information campaigns, and
        direct management activities.

HB 1248    RELATING TO NATURAL AND CULTURAL          EEP,TSM,FIN 
        RESOURCES                                             
        Establishes an executive board, the Hawaii
        environmental authority, to oversee the State's
        environmental protection policies and strategies and
        to establish an environmental protection special fund
        partially funded by a portion of the TAT.

HB 595     RELATING TO CONSERVATION DISTRICTS         EEP,WLU,FIN
        Highlights the importance of preserving scenic
        resources in the conservation district.  Establishes
        guidelines for the board of land and natural resources
        to use in considering applications for the
        construction of high voltage electric power
        transmission lines in the conservation district and in
        the approval of high-voltage electric power
        transmission lines greater than forty-six kilovolts in
        the conservation district.  Amends the procedure for
        the approval of applications for high-voltage electric
        power transmission lines in the conservation district.
