HB 520     RELATING TO SCHOOL BUSES                   TRN,EDN,FIN
HD 1       Allows school buses to use HOV and zipper lanes.

HB 847     RELATING TO MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR FELIX CLASS
HD 1       CHILDREN                                   HLT,EDN,FIN
        Requires DOH, by 8/31/99, to develop: (1) service
        definitions for mental health services for Felix class
        children that are comparable to Medicaid definitions;
        (2) fee schedule and billing codes comparable to
        Medicaid and QUEST.  Report to legislature.

HB 1663    RELATING TO HEALTH                         HLT,EDN,FIN
        Requires rules determining eligibility of exceptional
        children to be established by department of health and
        department of education.  Requires department of
        education to evaluate, identify, and report to
        department of health any suspicious increase or
        significant clusters of disease or illness suspected
        to be related to environmental contamination.
        Requires the department of health to work
        cooperatively with department of education to
        identify, investigate, and report to the public
        concerning such significant clusters or increases of
        illness.  Eliminates the financial restriction on
        assistance to exceptional children.


 
HB 319     RELATING TO SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES         HLT,EDN,FIN
        Initiates a pilot project to expand the workday of
        school health aides from six and one-half hours per
        day to eight hours at twelve large secondary public
        schools statewide.

HB 259     RELATING TO EARLY CHILDHOOD 
HD 1       ASSESSMENTS                            HSH/HLT,EDN,FIN
        Requires parents or guardians of a child to have their
        child screened for psychological and physiological
        development 90 days prior to or following the child's
        third birthday.  Makes an appropriation therefor.

HB 264     RELATING TO SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CARE FOR 
HD 1       ADOLESCENTS                                HLT,EDN,FIN
        Requires the director of health, with the assistance
        of the superintendent of education, to establish and
        operate as a demonstration project, not less than one
        school-based health clinic in each of the seven
        department school districts.  Provides different types
        of health services for a flat fee based on a student's
        ability to pay for these services.  Requires that a
        student produce a signed parental consent form to be
        eligible to receive most services.  Prohibits the
        performance of abortions at a clinic and the referral
        of students to abortion services.  Holds a student
        financially responsible for services provided by a
        clinic without parental consent.

HB 272     RLATING TO CHILDREN, YOUTH AND

        Creates the Department of Children, Youth, and
        Families

HB 1698    RELATING TO HAWAII KAI PERFORMING ARTS AND
HD 1       AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER                      CAR,EDN,FIN
        Establishes the Hawaii Kai performing arts and
        technology center.  Authorizes the issuance of general
        obligation bonds for the design of the center.

HB 841     MAKING AN APPROPPRIATION FOR A PCNC DISTRICT
        COORDINATOR POSITION FOR KAUAI                 EDN,FIN
        Appropriates funds to the department of education for
        a parent-community networking center district
        coordinator position for Kauai.

HB 1750    MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR BUSINESS SPECIALIST
        POSITIONS                                      EDN,FIN

 
 
 
 
        Appropriates funds to the department of education for
        three district level business specialists for the
        districts of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui.
