HB 1361 HD2 RELATING TO CHARTER TOUR OPERATORS      ECD, CPN
(SB 1513 SD1) Requires travel agencies operating charter tours to
           provide evidence of financial ability to perform
           contractual obligations and periodic financial
           reports. Provides greater regulator supervision of
           travel agencies operating charter tours by the
           State, including enhanced authority to conduct
           audits and examinations.

HB 1029 HD3 RELATING TO PERMIT PROCESSING           ECD, WAM
(SB 1079 SD1) Changes the name of the "consolidated application
           process" to the "facilitated application process".
           Expands the membership of the permit process task
           force. Limits the task force's focus to county
           building permit applications. Establishes a sunset
           date for the task force of 6/30/2002.

HB 37 HD1   RELATING TO FILM PRODUCTION FUNDING     ECD, WAM
           Establishes the State of Hawaii film revolving fund
           within DBED&T; and appropriate moneys for the fund
           for documentary film productions relating to the
           Pacific region.

HB 830 HD1  RELATING TO SECURITIES                  ECD, CPN
           Authorizes small companies to raise capital through
           small corporate offerings registration (SCOR), a
           uniform registration system that allows small
           companies to obtain equity financing by selling
           common stock directly to the public. Establishes a
           complementary program, the accredited investor
           exemption, which utilizes SCOR documents and
           provides a vehicle to raise capital through a
           private placement to qualified higher net worth
           individuals and institutions.

HB 1020 HD2 RELATING TO THE HAWAII CAPITAL LOAN PROGRAMECD, WAM
(SB 1072 SD1) Extends the business loan guarantee program and the
           neighbor island preferential business loan interest
           rate under the Hawaii capital loan program.

HB 1014 HD2 RELATING TO TOURISM                     ECD, WAM
(SB 1322)   Allows the convention center authority to sunset on
           June 30, 2000. Assigns the responsibility to
           market, operate, manage, and maintain the Hawaii
           convention center facility to the Hawaii tourism
           authority. Transfers the balance of the Hawaii
           convention center capital and operations special
           funds to the tourism special fund. Assigns the
           funding responsibility for the convention center
           debt service and operating requirements to the
           Hawaii tourism authority.

HB 136 HD2  RELATING TO TAXATION                    ECD, WAM
           Provides to each taxpayer or the association of
           apartment owners of a hotel-condo as defined in
           section 486K-1, an income tax credit for
           improvement costs of qualified facilities within a
           hotel or resort-zoned district.

(SB 1065)   Reestablishes the Clean Hawaii Fund.

please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.

to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
