HB 582        RELATING TO LANDOWNER LIABILITY                      WLH, JDC
HD2 SD1       Amends the definition of land in section 520-2, Hawaii
           Revised Statutes (HRS), to include unimproved government-
           owned trails established under section 198D-6, HRS.  States
           that the definition does not include any land used for any
           commercial purpose.

HB 171        RELATING TO HEALTH CARE DECISIONS                    HHS, JDC
HD2 SD1       Adopts a comprehensive, modified uniform health-care
(SB 1022      decisions act which would permit a competent
SD2)          individual to control decisions relating to his or her own
           medical care. 

HB 294        RELATING TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF SAMPLE               HHS, JDC
HD1 SD1       TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND TOBACCO PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
(SB 166       Prohibits the distribution of sample tobacco products
SD2)          and promotional materials in any public street, sidewalk, or
           park, or within 1000 feet of any school.

HB 1160       RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT SECURITY APPEALS              LRE, JDC
HD1 SD1       Allows Employment Security Appeals Referee Officer to
(SB 1148)     hold a hearing by telephone. 

HB 159        RELATING TO WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION                 LRE, JDC
HD2 SD1       Amends the Whistleblowers' Protection Act by expanding
(SB 235       areas of protected conduct and the types of
SD2)          reportable violations.  Also strengthens the remedies
           available to whistleblowers and increases penalties for
           violators.

HB 167        RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER LICENSING           TIA, JDC
HD3 SD1       Establishes driving curfew for all minors under
(SB 1169      eighteen, with exceptions; requires proof of behind-
SD1)          the-wheel driving training for driver's license applicants;
           requires a driver education course for permit applicants; and
           authorizes license revocation for minors for certain traffic
           violations. 


                   No testimony will be accepted.
