         DECISION MAKING ON THE FOLLOWING BILLS
             (Deferred from March 23, 1999)

HB 1460       MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE EXPANSION            JDC, WAM
HD2           OF THE VIDEO ARRAIGNMENT AND CONFERENCING SYSTEM
           Appropriates  funds   over   the  1999-2001  fiscal
           biennium for the  expansion  of a video arraignment
           and conferencing system in the circuit court of the
           third circuit and the Halawa correctional facility.

HB 1485       RELATING TO DISTRICT COURT                                JDC
           Eliminates requirement  that  multiple  offenses be
           charged  "through  complaint  or  indictment"  with
           respect to district court's concurrent jurisdiction
           of abuse of  family  or  household member offenses,
           when multiple offenses  are  involved,  of which at
           least  one  is  within   the  jurisdiction  of  the
           district court.

HB 995        RELATING TO ATTORNEYS' FEES                          JDC, WAM
HD1           Establishes and clarifies the sovereign immunity of
           the State with regard to claims for attorneys' fees
           against the State. 

HB 992        RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES OF               JDC
HD1           IDENTIFICATION
           Removes  the  requirement  of  displaying  specific
           mandatory   fields    on    the    certificate   of
           identification    (state    identification   card).
           Changes the designated  fingerprints to be obtained
           and retained by the attorney general. 

HB 1444       RELATING TO THE DISPOSITION OF NOTARY RECORDS             JDC
           Requires notary public records to be deposited with
           the attorney general rather than the courts.

HB 1450       RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY                            JDC, WAM
HD1           Judiciary Appropriations Act of 1999.
