         DECISION MAKING ON THE FOLLOWING BILLS
             (Deferred from March 15, 1999)

HB 1008       RELATING TO TOBACCO LIABILITY                        JDC, WAM
           Proposes to: (1)  require tobacco manufacturers who
           determine not to enter  into  the November 23, 1998
           "Master Settlement  Agreement"  with  the State, to
           establish a reserve fund  to  guarantee a source of
           compensation; and  (2)  prevent  such manufacturers
           from deriving  large,  short-term  profits and then
           becoming judgement-proof.

HB 989        RELATING TO THE RELIEF OF CERTAIN PERSONS'           JDC, WAM
HD1           CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATIONS
           THEREFOR
           Makes  appropriation  to  pay  claims  against  the
           State.

HB 1006       RELATING TO A SENTENCING SIMULATION MODEL            JDC, WAM
HD2           Appropriates funds for  a criminal justice computer
           simulation modeling program. 

HB 440        RELATING TO CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES                    JDC, WAM
HD2           Allows the Narcotics  Enforcement Division to share
           prescription   information,    gathered    by   the
           Electronic  Prescription  Monitoring  Program, with
           practitioners authorized  to  prescribe or dispense
           controlled substances.  Appropriates funds from the
           controlled  substance  registration  revolving fund
           for one full-time  data  processing systems analyst
           position to carry out this task.

HB 1454       RELATING TO FEES                                     JDC, WAM
HD2           Specifies  that  a  single,  uniform  fee  of  $100
           applies  to   all   probate   actions  involving  a
           decedent's  estate;  adds   a   $5  court  fee  for
           administrative costs  for  processing citations for
           interfering with the movement of traffic.
