           Clarifies that  the  attorney  general  may provide

HB 250, HD 2  RELATING TO THE MANAGEMENT OF FINANCING           EDU, WAM
           AGREEMENTS FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII
           Allows  the  University  of  Hawaii  to  enter into
           financing agreements  without  the  approval of the
           director of finance and the attorney general if the
           principal does not exceed $3,000,000.

           Allows current management arrangements at the state

HB 634, HD 1  ESTABLISHING A COMMISSION TO CELEBRATE            EDU, WAM
           THE ONE-HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARRIVAL OF THE PUERTO
           RICANS TO HAWAII
           Establishes a  commission  to  celebrate  the 100th
           anniversary of  the  arrival  of  Puerto  Ricans to
           Hawaii.

HB 1198, HD 1 RELATING TO THE INTEGRATED TAX INFORMATION       *EDU, WAM

           Creates the  Integrated  Tax Information Management
           Systems   Special    Fund    for   the   operation,
           maintenance,  monitoring,  and  improvement  of the

           PROGRAM
           Extends  sunset  of   Act   327,  SLH  1993,  which
           authorizes the library  system  to  charge fees for
           enhanced services.

HB 1170, HD 2 RELATING TO COST-RECOVERY FEES FOR                EDU, WAM
           DELINQUENT LIBRARY ACCOUNTS
           Authorizes the Board of Education to establish fees
           for the administrative costs of collecting fees for
           overdue  or  lost  books,   for  use  of  materials
           requiring special equipment,  and library sponsored
           seminars and workshops.

           NEW SCHOOLS
           Requires funding  for  coaches'  salaries, athletic
           health  care   trainers,   athletic  equipment  and
           supplies, and the  transportation of athletic teams
           to be considered  standard  workload increase items
           when planning and budgeting for new public schools.

           Allows the board of  education  to employ or retain

HB 1637, HD 2 RELATING TO SCHOOL BUSES                          EDU, WAM
           Allows the use of tour buses for the transportation
           of student groups,  other  than school athletes, to
           and from school related events or activities.

HB 532, HD 3  RELATING TO GENDER EQUITY IN SPORTS               EDU, WAM
           Prohibits discrimination in  athletics on the basis
           of  sex  in  any  public  school  and  requires the
           superintendent of education  to develop a strategic
           plan to ensure equity in sports participation.
