        PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES
        Deletes restrictions on granting advanced practice
        registered nurses prescriptive authority; adds to
        authority, prescriptions for controlled substances in
        schedules II to V.

SB 845     RELATING TO SOCIAL WORKERS                         CPN
        Changes scope of social worker licensing to include
        "bachelor's social worker".
        (CHUN OAKLAND)

SB 365     RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION                    CPN
        Prohibits the sale of laser pointing devices to
        minors, possession of laser pointing devices by
        minors, and sale of laser pointing devices without
        providing buyer with printed warning regarding dangers
        of improper usage.     (KANNO)

SB 1582    RELATING TO REVISED UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE        CPN
        ARTICLE 9 -- SECURED TRANSACTIONS
        Adopts revised (1998) version of UCC.  (TANIGUCHI)

SB 1458    RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS                           CPN
        Creates a preliminary permit that allows a developer
        to begin offering and selling time share units or time
        share interests while the registration is in process;
        allows developer to file a disclosure statement in
        which all accommodations are located outside Hawaii;
        adds to requirements for time share registration.

SB 1459    RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS                           CPN
        Adds section that allows time share registration under
        the time share law to meet the registration
        requirements of the horizontal property regime law, so
        long as the requirements are not contradictory.
        Provides time share law shall prevail as it relates to

SB 776     RELATING TO FINANCIAL SERVICES LOAN COMPANIES      CPN
        Allows depository financial services loan companies to
        hold up to a quarter of their total reserves in
        securities listed on the NASDAQ.  (TANIGUCHI)

SB 1134    RELATING TO REVERSE MORTGAGES                      CPN
        To establish consumer protections for reverse
        mortgagors.  (MIZUGUCHI BR)

        NO TESTIMONY WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS BILL

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 (three-hole punched)
copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 202, State
Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be
faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-

islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.
