SB 1513    RELATING TO CHARTER TOUR OPERATORS        CPN/ECD, WAM
        Provides for the licensing of charter tour operators.

SB 1124    RELATING TO THE CODE OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS CPN,WAM
        Removes the restrictions on establishment or
        acquisition of interstate branches in Hawaii by out-
        of-state banks.  (MIZUGUCHI B/R)

SB 1144    RELATING TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS             CPN,WAM
        Provides a source of funds from the franchise tax
        revenues for the financial institution examiner's
        revolving fund.  (MIZUGUCHI B/R)

SB 1326    RELATING TO LENDER EXEMPTIONS                  CPN,WAM
        Encourages and facilitates investments of capital and
        funds from sources outside of Hawaii by removing the
        registration requirement to obtain the existing
        exemptions from certain state licensing, registration
        and tax laws.  (MIZUGUCHI B/R)

SB 1392    RELATING TO BANKS AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS   CPN,JDC
        Requires banks and institutions to maintain books and
        records as orignial for 3 years and to provide legible

 
        copies after 3 years.  Requires certain records and
        files to be kept for 9 rather than 6 years. (MIZUGUCHI

SB 1125    RELATING TO THE CODE OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS     CPN
        Makes corrections to certain sections of the Code of
        Financial Institutions which were inadvertently not
        changed with the adoption of prior amendments to the

SB 1134    RELATING TO REVERSE MORTGAGES                      CPN
        Establlishes consumer protections for reverse
        mortgagors.  (MIZUGUCHI B/R)

SB 777     RELATING TO FORECLOSURES                      CPN, JDC
        Makes general housekeeping amendments to the alternate
        power of sale foreclosure process, including deleting
        the requirement of an open house, clarifying that
        public notices be mailed and delivered rather than
        sent, and deleting the public information requirement
        for lenders using the new process.  (TANIGUCHI/KANNO)

SB 20      RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND SALESPERSONS   CPN
        Amends provisions relating to the continuing education
        of real estate brokers and salespersons.  Changes
        requirement to 5 hours each year instead of 10 hours
        every 2 years.  Authorizes real estate commission to
        develop own courses.  (TANIGUCHI/KANNO)

SB 238     RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND                CPN
        SALESPERSONS
        Simplifies the certification of real estate continuing
        education instructors; provides options for licensure
        for candidates with a questionable background;
        simplifies prelicensing broker requirements; provides
        for an option to the prelicensing examination; and
        makes changes to real estate recovery fund.

SB 236     RELATING TO UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICES     CPN,JDC
        Prohibits the offering of a prize in which the winner
        is determined by a drawing or some other method of
        chance without providing written representation that
        the prize may not be awarded.  Authorizes an injured
        consumer to sue for damages and attorneys'
        fees.  (KANNO)

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their
testimony to the committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less

 
 
 
 
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at
586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at
least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
