SB 1326  RELATING TO LENDER EXEMPTIONS                   CPC, FIN
      Encourages and facilitates investments of capital and
      funds from sources outside of Hawaii by removing the
      registration requirement to obtain the existing
      exemptions from certain state licensing, registration
      and tax laws.

SB 1144  RELATING TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS              CPC, FIN
SD 1     Dedicates a portion of the franchise tax revenues to the
      financial examiners' revolving fund.

SB 1124  RELATING TO THE CODE OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS  CPC, FIN
SD 2     Allows an out-of-state bank to establish a de novo
      interstate branch or acquire an interstate branch.
      Eliminates five-year age requirement for whole bank
      acquisition by an out-of-state bank.

SB 1145  RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND
SD 2     CONSUMER AFFAIRS                                CPC, FIN
      Combines certain special and revolving funds to the
      department of commerce and consumer affairs into the
      department's compliance resolution fund, to be managed
      at a department-wide level to fund department
      operations.

 
SB 1261  RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                   CPC, FIN
SD 1     Authorizes the insurance commissioner to adopt
      administrative rules establishing fees for captive
      insurance companies.

SB 1238  RELATING TO PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS         CPC, FIN
SD 2     Transfers responsibility for licensure and regulation of
      barbering and massage schools from DOE to DCCA.
      Requires DCCA to assess need for regulation and report
      to the legislature.

SB 20    RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS
SD 1     AND SALESPERSONS                                CPC, FIN
      Codifies principal broker responsibilities.  Reorganizes
      continuing education provisions into new section.
      Directs HAR to work with REC in developing legislation
      on consumer protection and licensing issues.

SB 238   RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS
SD 1     AND SALESPERSONS                                CPC, FIN
      Simplifies the certification of real estate continuing
      education instructors; provides options for licensure
      for candidates with a questionable background;
      simplifies prelicensing broker requirements; provides
      for an option to the prelicensing examination; and makes
      changes to real estate recovery fund.

SB 1131  RELATING TO INSURANCE                           CPC, FIN
SD 1     Increases the mandatory insurer contribution from $550
      to $800 to the insurance examiners revolving fund.
      Repeals sunset provisions of fund and other national
      association of insurance commission's accreditation
      requirements.

SB 528   RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE                    CPC, FIN
SD 2     Exempts health insurance offered under federally funded
      programs under the Social Security Act, as amended, by
      insurers, mutual benefit societies, health maintenance
      organizations, and managed care plans, from mandated
      coverage requirements.

SB 1129  RELATING TO INSURANCE                           CPC, FIN
SD 2     Requires continuing education for insurance agents as a
      prerequisite for license renewal; creates insurance
      licensing administration special fund; increases fees.

SB 112   RELATING TO CONDOMINIUM PROPERTY REGIMES        CPC, FIN
SD 1     Requires mortgage holders to pay common expenses to the
      association while foreclosure proceedings are pending,
      if the unit is being rented pending the foreclosure.
