HB 1096    RELATING TO THE REPEAL OF BUSINESS REGULATION CPC, FIN
        Eliminates the regulation  of Barbers, Beauty Culture,
        Dispensing Opticians, Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters,
        Speech Pathologists  and  Audiologists, Electrologists
        and Real Estate Collection Servicing Agents.

HB 1097    RELATING TO REPEAL OF PROFESSIONAL AND VOCATIONAL
        LICENSING BOARDS                              CPC, FIN
        Terminates the Boards of Barbering and Beauty Culture,
        Speech  Pathology  and  Audiology,  Elevator Mechanics
        Licensing,   Motor   Vehicle   Industry,   and  Dental
        Examiners, and assigns these duties to the director of
        the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

HB 866     RELATING TO STATE INFORMATION POLICY          CPC, FIN
        Adopts an official state  policy encouraging all state
        agencies  to  adopt  rules  allowing  the  receipt  of
        testimony  and  other  communications  via  electronic
        transmission.

HB 1081    RELATING TO CORPORATIONS                           CPC
        Provides  shareholders  the  opportunity  to authorize
        another person to act as  a proxy for the sole purpose
        of  voting  shares,  and  to  provide  for  the  proxy
        authorization  to  be  in  writing  or  electronically
        transmitted to the person  who  will  be the holder of
        the proxy.

 
HB 1077    RELATING TO LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANIES       CPC, FIN
        Amends the  Hawaii  Uniform  Limited Liability Company
        Act to conform  with  amendments  made  to the Uniform
        Limited Liability Company Act (1995).

HB 13      RELATING TO MUTUAL BENEFIT SOCIETIES          CPC, FIN
        Clarifies applicability of  nonprofit corporations law
        to formation of benefit societies.

HB 1203    RELATING TO THE COLLECTION OF TAXES           CPC, FIN
        Allow collection agencies  to recover their collection
        fees directly from  a  delinquent  taxpayer when under
        contract  with  the  Department  of  Taxation  for the
        collection of delinquent taxes.

HB 792     RELATING TO BAIL BONDS                             CPC
        Exempts bail  bond  rates  from  insurance rate filing
        requirements.

HB 1063    RELATING TO THE CODE OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS     CPC
        Makes corrections to certain  sections  of the Code of
        Financial Institutions  which  were  inadvertently not
        changed with the adoption  of  prior amendments to the
        Code.

HB 1075    RELATING TO LENDER EXEMPTIONS                 CPC, FIN
        Encourages and facilitates  investments of capital and
        funds from sources outside  of  Hawaii by removing the
        registration  requirement   to   obtain  the  existing
        exemptions from certain  state licensing, registration
        and tax laws.

HB 1070    RELATING TO THE INSURANCE CODE                     CPC
        Amends  the   provisions   governing  examination  and
        investigations of captive insurance companies.

HB 1623    RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                      CPC
        Reclassifies captive insurance  companies  in terms of
        their minimum capital or surplus requirements.

HB 1624    RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                 CPC, FIN
        Authorizes license and renewal  fees and other fees of
        captive insurance companies to be set by the insurance
        commissioner.

HB 756     RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION  EDB, CPC, FIN
        Establishes the universal  service  fund  as a special
        fund outside of  the  state  treasury to implement the
        policies and goals of universal service.  Appropriates
        moneys out of the universal  service fund to carry out
        the  purposes  of   the   universal  service  program.
        Provides that any  unexpended  or unencumbered balance
        of the  appropriation  will  lapse  into the universal
        service fund.

 
HB 1115    RELATING TO FOSTER BOARD HOMES           HSH, CPC, FIN
        Changes the need for  a  criminal history record check
        from one year to  every  year  for the first two years
        and biennially thereafter for foster homes.

HB 11      RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                    TRN, CPC
HD 1       Increases from 11,001  to  12,001 gross vehicle weight
        for a category 4 driver license.

HB 351     RELATING TO PRIVACY OF HEALTH CARE
        INFORMATION                              HLT, CPC, JHA
        Protects  privacy  of   health   care  information  by
        stipulating conditions under  which information can be
        disclosed
        
HB 462     RELATING TO A STUDY OF LATEX PRODUCTS IN
        HAWAII BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH       HLT, CPC, FIN
        Requires DOH  to  conduct  study  regarding nature and
        extent of the dangers associated with the use of latex
        products, the  benefits  of  eliminating  their use or
        requiring the use  of  low-protein latex products, and
        the potential costs  of  restricting  the use of latex
        products.  Report to legislature by 11/30/99.
