HB 350  RELATING TO  THE  GENERAL  EXCISE  TAXATION OF RECIPROCAL
     INSURERS AND THEIR ATTORNEYS-IN-FACT             CPC, FIN
     Includes a reciprocal  insurer's  attorney-in-fact in the
     definition  of  insurance  company  for  the  purposes of
     exemption from the general excise tax.

HB 352  RELATING TO INSURANCE                            CPC, FIN
     Requires mutual benefit  societies selling long-term care
     policies to pay  premium  taxes  and guaranty association
     assessments.

HB 1067 RELATING TO INSURANCE                            CPC, FIN
     Mandates  continuing   education   for   general  agents,
     subagents,  solicitors,  designated  representatives, and
     nonresident agents in the State of Hawaii.

HB 1069 RELATING TO INSURANCE                            CPC, FIN
     Amends the provisions  governing  the  assessment for the
     Insurance Examiners  Revolving  Fund,  and  to repeal the
     sunset provisions for the  fund  and statutes enacted for
     accreditation.

HB 63   RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                       CPC, FIN
     Establishes recovery agencies to seize the license plates
     of uninsured motor vehicles.  Also establishes an on-line
     computer network and  database  for purposes of verifying
     whether a vehicle has a current no-fault insurance policy
     prior  to  the  registration,  renewal,  or  transfer  of
     registration of a motor vehicle.

 
HB 1064 RELATING TO HAWAII HURRICANE RELIEF
     FUND BONDS                                       CPC, FIN
     Extends the  authorization  period  to issue reimbursable
     general obligation bonds for  the  purposes of the Hawaii
     Hurricane Relief Fund (HHRF).

HB 460  RELATING TO CHECK CASHING                        CPC, FIN
     Requires the registration of check-cashing businesses.

HB 1062 RELATING TO THE CODE OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS   CPC, FIN
     Removes the restrictions  on establishment or acquisition
     of interstate branches in Hawaii by out-of-state banks.

HB 936  RELATING TO COMMERCIAL PAPER                     CPC, JHA
     Provides assessments and  other  penalties for dishonored
     checks.

HB 1082 RELATING TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS               CPC, FIN
     Provides  a  source  of  funds  from  the  franchise  tax
     revenues  for   the   financial   institution  examiners'
     revolving fund.

HB 1083 RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND
     CONSUMER AFFAIRS                                 CPC, FIN
     Corrects the statutory reference to the Director as being
     the Commissioner of Securities, and allows the department
     to be fiscally self-sufficient by creating a Commerce and
     Consumer Affairs Fund.

HB 1717 RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIRS                CPC, FIN
     Repeals   exemption   from   licensing   and   regulatory
     provisions, applicable  to  motor  vehicle repair dealers
     and  motor  vehicle  mechanics,  for  state  employees in
     carrying out government functions.

HB 791  RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND SALESPERSONS
                                                      CPC, FIN
     Amends provisions relating to the continuing education of
     real   estate   brokers   and   salespersons.     Changes
     requirement to 5  hours  each  year  instead  of 10 hours
     every 2  years.    Authorizes  real  estate commission to
     develop own courses.

HB 1522 RELATING TO REAL PROPERTY APPRAISALS             CPC, FIN
     Exempts  county   real   property   appraisers  from  law
     regulating real estate appraisers.
