HB 1270  RELATING TO THE UNIFORM UNINCORPORATED
      NONPROFIT ASSOCIATION                  EDB, CPC/JHA, FIN
      Adopts the Uniform  Unincorporated Nonprofit Association
      Act.  Gives  entity  separate  identity from members for
      purposes of  transfer  of  real  property,  liability in
      contract and tort, and standing in a claim.

HB 1271  THE UNIFORM PRINCIPAL AND INCOME ACT   EDB, CPC/JHA, FIN
      Repeals the  revised  uniform  principal  and income act
      (chapter  557,  HRS)  and   establishes  a  new  uniform
      principal and income act.

 
HB 547   ANATOMICAL GIFTS                       HLT, CPC/JHA, FIN
HD 1     Amends Hawaii's  Uniform  Anatomical  Gift  Act  to: (1)
      Require all acute care  hospitals  in  Hawaii at or near
      the time of  every  individual  death,  to report to the
      organ procurement  organization  (OPO)  by  telephone to
      determine  suitability   for   organ   donation  of  the
      individual  in  question.    (2)  Require  the  OPO  and
      hospital   representatives   to   cooperatively  develop
      protocols for  presenting  the  option  to  donate.  (3)
      Prohibits family  members  from  overriding  the donor's
      wishes when evidenced by a document of gift.  (4) Limits
      liability of any person who  relies in good faith on the
      document  of   gift,   except   for   gross  negligence,
      recklessness, or  intentional  misconduct.   (5) Require
      the  OPO  and  hospital  representatives  to  conduct an
      annual  death  record   review.      (6)  Authorize  the
      assessment of a fine for noncompliance.  (7) Establish a
      state organ donation advisory  committee.  (8) Authorize
      the Lt. Governor to  actively promote organ, tissue, and
      other anatomical gift efforts.

HB 1287  RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE
      REVENUE BONDS TO ASSIST THE GAS UTILITY
      SERVING THE GENERAL PUBLIC                 EEP, CPC, FIN
      Authorizes special purpose  revenue  bonds not to exceed
      $19,600,000 to assist the  gas  utility in providing gas
      services and making capital improvements.

HB 765   RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE RENTAL INDUSTRY  TRN, CPC, FIN
      Allows rent-a-car lessors to visibly pass on to lessees,
      concession or access  fees  and  charges  paid to public
      airports.

HB 346   RELATING TO THE HAWAII HURRICANE
HD 1     RELIEF FUND                                EDB, CPC, FIN
      Repeals  the  Hawaii  hurricane  relief  fund  effective
      1/1/2002.

HB 665   RELATING TO INSURANCE                      EDB, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Repeals the Hawaii  hurricane  relief fund.  Establishes
      the hurricane  relief  loan  fund  to  provide  loans to
      strengthen  homes   at   risk   for   hurricane  damage.
      Establishes the  hurricane  loss  projection methodology
      commission to improve the  reliability of hurricane loss
      projections.

HB 1744  RELATING TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FINANCIAL
HD 1     INSTITUTIONS                               EDB, CPC, FIN
      Appropriates  funds,  with  a  requirement  for matching
      funds,  for  the  development  of  community development
      financial institutions.

HB 622   HEALTH INSURANCE                           HLT, CPC, FIN
      Changes coverage for biennial  mammograms for women aged
      40 to 49 to annual mammograms  for all women aged 40 and
      older.

 
HB 627   RELATING TO MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE
      CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM    HSH/HLT, CPC, FIN
      Appropriate funds  for  the  Children's Health Insurance
      Program.

HB 1065  RELATING TO INSURANCE                      HLT, CPC, FIN
      Establishes the health insurance  revolving fund for the
      purpose of providing a  means  to  pay  for the costs of
      regulating health insurance.

HB 1066  RELATING TO INSURANCE                      HLT, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Clarifies  and   improves   laws  regulating  insurance,
      including   mutual   benefit    societies   and   health
      maintenance  organizations   by:  clarifying  provisions
      governing fines for violations of the insurance statutes
      and  rules;  clarifying  the  licensing  provisions  for
      fraternal benefit society agents; and requiring policies
      provided  by   mutual   benefit   societies  and  health
      maintenance organizations to meet certain Flesch Reading
      Ease tests.

HB 1068  HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATIONS           HLT, CPC, FIN
      Amends the provisions governing fees for certificates of
      authority for health maintenance organizations (HMO).

HB 1664  RELATING TO HEALTH                         HLT, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Implements  patient  rights  and  responsibilities  task
      force recommendations to the  patient bill of rights and
      responsibilities act and related laws.

HB 749   RELATING TO DIETITIANS                     HLT, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Creates  a   licensing   program   for  dietitians  that
      establishes licensing  and  disciplinary  procedures and
      standards,  and  sets  forth  educational qualifications
      necessary to obtain a dietitian's license.

HB 440   RELATING TO CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES          PSM, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Allows  the  Narcotics  Enforcement  Division  to  share
      prescription information with physicians.

HB 252   RELATING TO DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTIONS   HED, CPC, FIN
HD 1     Prohibits unaccredited institutions from issuing degrees
      unless they comply with certain standards.
