              the department of commerce and consumer affairs.

HB 1411 HD1 SD1  RELATING TO ACUPUNCTURE PRACTITIONERS
              Postpones until July 1, 2001, implementaion of
              the new requirements for acupuncture examination
              applicants. (SD1)

HB 850 HD1 SD1 RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE
              Extends amnesty period for uninsured motorists
              to June 30, 2000.  Repeals requirement that
              person convicted of driving without insurance
              within five years of any other prior conviction
              maintain proof of financial responsibility in
              order to avoid an automatic administrative
              license suspension. (SD1)

              Requires that salesperson's or dealer's contract
              for sale or lease of new or used motor vehicles
              disclose in writing whether three-day rescission
              right exists.  Exempts auction sales.  Provides
              that contracts contingent upon financing are
              void if buyer does not qualify. (SD1)

SB 238 SD1 HD2 RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND SALESPERSONS
              Licensing requirements streamlined;
              certification of continuing education
              instructors deregulated; UCs authorized to
              register as condo hotel operator. (HD2)

HB 460 HD2 SD1 RELATING TO CHECK CASHING
              Establishes stronger consumer protection
              regulations on the check cashing industry by: 1)
              setting caps on the fees that may be charged by
              check cashing businesses, 2) requiring notice of
              fees to consumers, and 3) specifying other
              prohibited acts with regard to deferred deposit
              transaction; makes violation of the check
              cashing law an unfair or deceptive act or
              practice; makes wilful violations of the Act
              punishable by a fine of up to $500 and 30 days
              imprisonment.
