Sir:

     Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was
referred S.B. No. 836 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL
     PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS FOR KUAKINI MEDICAL CENTER,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this measure is to authorize the issuance of
special purpose revenue bonds for Kuakini Medical Center.

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure
from the Department of Budget and Finance and Kuakini Medical
Center.

     Your Committee believes that the Kuakini Medical Center is
deserving of financial assistance for the construction of
improvements and acquisition of equipment for its health care
facilities.

     Your Committee has amended this bill to delete a reference
to section 3 in section 4 of the measure as being unnecessary.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this
report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose
of S.B. No. 836, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass
Second Reading in the form attached hereto as S.B. No. 836,
S.D. 1, and be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
