Sir:

     Your Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, to which
was referred H.R. No. 12, H.D. 1, entitled: 

     "HOUSE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO DIRECT THE
     ATTORNEY GENERAL TO VIGOROUSLY PURSUE CIVIL LITIGATION OF
     THE GASOLINE CASE, AND TO EXPRESS HOUSE MEMBERS' SUPPORT FOR
     THIS EFFORT,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this concurrent resolution is to urge the
Attorney General to:

     1)   Vigorously pursue the civil suit filed in federal
          district court, that alleges antitrust violations and
          unfair trade practices by thirteen corporations who are
          refiners and gasoline wholesalers in Hawaii; and

     2)   From time to time, report to the Legislature on the
          progress of the litigation.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce that is attached to
this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose
of H.R. No. 12, H.D. 1, and recommends its adoption.
