Sir:

     Your Committee on Culture and the Arts, to which was
referred H.C.R. No. 208 entitled: 

     "HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE
     LEGISLATURE FOR THE MILLENNIUM PROJECT,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this House Concurrent Resolution is to
express the support of the Legislature for the coming third
millennium as the millennium of peace.

     Your committee recognizes that Hawaii has a unique gift to
share with the people of the world, the gift of Aloha and the
profound meaning it has for all.  

     Your committee further recognizes that Hawaii's multi-ethnic
and multi-cultural society sets an encouraging example for all
nations and peoples, to live together in peace and harmony.

     Your committee has amended the measure by:

     (1)  Making technical, nonsubstantitive revisions for

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Culture and the Arts that is attached to this
report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of
H.C.R. No. 208, as amended herein, and recommends its adoption in
the form attached hereto as H.C.R. No. 208, H.D. 1.
