Sir:

     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No.
314 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE STATE AQUARIUM,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this bill is to repeal the deadline for the
transfer of management of the State Aquarium from the University
of Hawaii (UH) to a non-profit corporation by allowing the State
Aquarium's current management with the Research Corporation of
the University of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii Foundation
to continue indefinitely.

     UH testified in support of this measure.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
314 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
