                                        S.D. 1

Honorable Norman Mizuguchi
President of the Senate
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 1999
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B.
No. 1594, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL
PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS FOR AN INTERGENERATIONAL CARE CENTER
     AT EWA VILLAGES,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to authorize the issuance of
special purpose revenue bonds for an intergenerational care
center at Kulana Malama, Ewa Villages.

Your Committee finds that the Ewa Villages Intergenerational
Care Center is a private nonprofit organization that seeks to
provide a continuum of health care services to frail elderly, and
medically fragile infants and children. Your Committee further
finds and declares that the issuance of special purpose revenue
bonds is in the public interest and for the public health,
safety, and general welfare of the State.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
1594, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
