Sir:

     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No.
1444 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE DISPOSITION OF NOTARY
     RECORDS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this bill is to require notary public records
to be deposited with the Office of the Attorney General instead
of the courts, upon the resignation, death, expiration of each
term of office, or removal from or abandonment of office.

     The Judiciary and the Department of the Attorney General
testified in support of this measure.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
1444 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
