RELATING TO A LIVING WAGE FOR WORKERS ON SERVICE CONTRACTS.

Reduces from $25,000 to $5,000 the applicability threshold of service contract wage, hour, and working condition requirements. Provides certain exemptions for nonprofits.  Requires wages providing an annual income of at least the U.S. poverty guideline for Hawaii for a family of four.  Includes provisions enhancing employees' ability to organize.  (HB760 HD2)

RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT.

Amends definitions of "closing", "covered establishment", and "employer".  Requires employer to notify employees of divestiture.  Imposes penalties for failure to notify employees of business closing.  (HB1503 HD1)

RELATING TO POLICE OFFICERS.

Clarifies meaning of "acts done in the performance of the officer's duty as a police officer" for purposes of determining if a police officer who is prosecuted or sued must be represented by an attorney provided by the county.  (HB987 HD1)

RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Allows police officers to receive a maximum retirement allowance that shall not exceed 100% of their average final compensation. Effective July 1, 2020. (HB1817 HD2)
