RELATING TO SEX OFFENDERS.

Authorizes public access to the public information of all convicted sex offenders through both public Internet access and on-site access.

RELATING TO SEX OFFENDERS.

Clarifies the methods of public access to a sex offender's public information.

RELATING TO PUBLIC ACCESS TO CRIMINAL HISTORY.

Requires persons convicted of offenses relating to manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamines or distributing dangerous drugs in the first degree to register with the attorney general.  Makes registration information available to the public.

RELATING TO AN AUTOMATED VICTIM NOTIFICATION SYSTEM.

Establishes a statewide automated victim notification system to provide victims of crime with current information regarding the custody status of the defendant in the victim's case.

RELATING TO MISSING PERSONS.

Improves the capacity of law enforcement agencies to locate and return missing persons by adopting new procedures and by using technology and databases.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 40 3-hole punched copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  In addition testimony may be emailed to the Public Access room at testimony@capitol.hawaii.gov. 


When faxing or emailing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

 

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

 

Public Folder.  A folder labeled “Public Folder” containing the measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of the public.
