RELATING TO ELDER ABUSE. Amends the definition of "caregiver" to include compensated or uncompensated family members or other relatives.

RELATING TO CAREGIVING. Strengthens support of family caregivers by, among other things: extending the joint legislative committee on family caregiving; requiring the executive office on aging to conduct a comprehensive assessment of care recipients' needs and the needs of their family caregivers; and appropriating funds to expand kupuna care services for care recipients and their family caregivers.

SB 1919 |
RELATING TO ASSET BUILDING. Provides a comprehensive set of asset building opportunities for Hawaii's low- and moderate-income families by establishing a self‑sufficiency standard that will determine the assistance allowance; establishing a refundable state earned income tax credit; providing financial education to TANF applicants and recipients; expanding the provision of individual development accounts; and appropriating funds.

RELATING TO SOCIAL SERVICES. Requires the department of human services to develop and implement a micro-credit pilot program and appropriates funds for that purpose.

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES. Eliminates the asset limits for households with minor dependents' applications for medical assistance and appropriates funds for this purpose.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 226, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
