RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Establishes an educational workforce working group to report to the legislature.  Requires the department of education and the University of Hawaii to create five-year plans to ensure optimal use of technology for administration, data collection, and data sharing related to educational and workforce needs, and to create individualized student learning plans that will have a direct link to economic and workforce needs.  Appropriates funds.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Appropriates funds for the department of education's repair and maintenance projects and authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds and general revenues for the University of Hawaii's repair and maintenance projects.  Provides public land and facilities for early education programs.

RELATING TO BUSINESS MANAGERS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Establishes fifteen complex area business manager positions; appropriates funds for a business manager to be hired at each department of education school complex area.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR BUSINESS MANAGERS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Makes appropriation to the Department of Education to hire one business manager for each of fifteen complexes.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Updates performance standards commission membership and reporting schedule, removes references to specific federal law, calls for alternative assessments based on student performance, calls for a growth model for Hawaii public schools, and appropriates $400,000 for the 2007-2008 fiscal year to the Hawaii educational policy center for assessments and analyses.
