RELATING TO FAMILY LEAVE.

Allows an employee to elect to use accrued paid leave, including vacation, personal, or family leave, for any part of the four-week period of family leave provided under the law.

Requires, rather than permits, a background check for certain employees of condominiums.

RELATING TO THE EMPLOYER-UNION HEALTH BENEFITS TRUST FUND.

Allows a retiree who moves outside of the coverage of the EUTF to be reimbursed for the lesser of an amount equal to contributions for a retiree under the EUTF or the amount of the personal health insurance policy.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII EMPLOYER-UNION HEALTH BENEFITS TRUST FUND.

Permits the EUTF to require individuals who become eligible for Medicare Part B reimbursements on or after 7/01-06 to accept direct deposit of the reimbursements to an institution of their choice.

RELATING TO VOLUNTARY EMPLOYEES' BENEFICIARY ASSOCIATION TRUSTS.

Excludes retirees from participation in the pilot program for VEBA trusts. Requires any retiree who has become a participant in a VEBA trust to be restored to membership in the EUTF on or before October 1, 2006.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
