The purpose of the informational briefing is to discuss Hawaii's P-20 Program. Ms. Kati Haycock, Director of the Education Trust in Washington, DC will be in Hawaii as part of the GEAR UP Program and will make herself available to provide the Legislature with an objective viewpoint of Hawaii's P-20 program. The mission of the Education Trust is to promote, on a national level, many of the same concepts which P-20 is promoting on a state level for Hawaii, especially regarding improved student achievement, closing of the achievement gap, teacher education and the importance of data as the basis for pursuing action in all of these areas.
