For over four decades, Representative Dee Morikawa (House District 17) has been actively involved with Kaua‘i's communities through her work with the County of Kaua‘i. From her early career within Kaua‘i's Department of Parks & Recreation, efforts volunteering in numerous community projects, and coaching youth & high school sports, Representative Morikawa has proven her personal values of community involvement & sacrifice with a profound commitment to uplifting the lives within our island community.
Since being elected to the Hawai‘i State House of Representatives in 2011, Dee has served as the Chair of the Human Services Committee and Vice Chair of the Health Committee. She has also served as a member on the House Committees of Finance, Hawaiian Affairs, Housing, Judiciary, Corrections, Military & Veterans, Lower & Higher Education, and Culture & Arts.
Representative Morikawa has proudly served as the House Majority Floor Leader since 2018. She currently also serves as a member of the House Committee on Finance (FIN), Legislative Management (LMG), Public Safety (PBS), and Water & Land (WAL).
Representative Morikawa believes Hawaiʻi's path forward requires tackling expanding issues relating to our aging infrastructure from water and wastewater, public schools, roadways, and public parks.
Representative Morikawa attended Kapa'a High School and Kahuku High School and is a graduate of Kaua'i Community College with an AS in accounting.
Representative Dee Morikawa is married to Ken Morikawa and together have raised 4 sons: Kevin, Kelsey, Kollin, and Ken Jr.
