Representative Chun was first elected to serve in House District 35 in November of 2022. He has served on the Waipahu Neighborhood Board since first being elected in 2007, and has served as a member, Vice Chair, and Chair of the board prior to being elected to the House of Representatives. Representative Chun is also a member of the Waikele Neighborhood Security Watch. Representative Chun is a member of the University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center's Patient Advocacy Council, a group that focuses on promoting and supporting clinical trials for cancer patients. He is also a member of the Hawaii Guam Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society.

Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Representative Chun served as the Policy and Budget Director and Senior Advisor to the Honolulu City Council Chair. Before serving at the City Council, he was the Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. He has also served as a Legislative Aide to the Majority Leader of the Hawai‘i House of Representatives, Staff Attorney for the House Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, and a Research Attorney for the Legislative Reference Bureau.

Representative Chun is a graduate of Iolani School, Gonzaga University, and the Gonzaga University School of Law.
