§804-7  Release after bail.  [Section effective until December 31, 2023.  For section effective January 1, 2024, see below.]  The judiciary, in consultation with the department of public safety and the department of the attorney general, shall establish and administer a statewide program that permits the posting of monetary bail seven-days-a-week for defendants who remain in the custody of the director of public safety.  This program shall be made available to any defendant for whom a monetary amount of bail has been set by the police, other law enforcement agency, or the court.  The judiciary may contract with a single vendor to administer the program.  The vendor may charge users of the program a service fee.  Upon posting of bail, the defendant shall be released from custody forthwith.
